Judiciary and forensic structures consist of :
- Judiciary and forensic department within the Special Intervention Brigade ;
- Judiciary and forensic department within the General Gendarmerie Directorate in Bucharest ;
- 8 judiciary and forensic departments within mobile groups ;
- 41 judiciary and forensic departments within the gendarmerie county inspectorates ;
Judiciary and forensic structures accomplish the following missions and activities :
- Perform public order missions, institutional guarding and protection, crimes detection, offenders identification and catching, identification of victims and evidences, elaborate the necessary documents for the beginning of prosecution ;
- Perform specific activities related to the operative situation, according to their competences, and obtain data regarding the potential places and persons that are going to commit anti-social facts ;
- Perform, according to the law, all the attributions stipulates in art.21 from the Penal Code, when they detect crimes during the missions ;
- Carry out the corporal preventive checking and the luggage checking ;
- Protect and preserve the crime scene, participate in crime investigation at the crime scene, in their area of responsibility ;
- Execute the forensic documentation by photos and video of some persons that prepare or committed crimes or offences against public order ;
- Try to recover the prejudice following the detected crimes ;
- Identify and verify the places favorable, monitor the serious conflict situations in their area of responsibility ;
- Performs anti-crimes training activities of the population ;
- Investigate the persons detected during their missions with respect to the committed crimes and elaborate the necessary documents for prosecution ;
