Although the Romanian Gendarmerie has a history of almost 16 decades the preoccupations with the foundation of an own museum are much more recent. In this respect, in the '70s, 10 rooms for combat traditions were realized.
The Gendarmerie's Museum is dedicated to honor the gendarme officers, warrant officers and conscripts that have served and sacrificed for their country.

The Romanian Gendarmerie's Museum came into existence in 2000 and it is situated within the Inspectorate General of Gendarmerie. It has a memorial, 3 exhibition rooms and a hal of honor.
