The Military Band of the Romanian Gendarmerie

The military band of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Gendarmerie was founded in the 2nd half of the 19 th Century; a short time after Prince Grigore Alexandru Ghica had founded the first "Gendarmes Corps".
It has developed together with the institution and it has accompanied it along the time in the main events, being part of its structures and acting as a truly educational factor.

The former Royal Band, until 1944, (with 120 instrumentalists), the present Military Band of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Gendarmerie consists of 1 officer and 28 instrumentalists. The missions they have participated in brought them a great prestige.
Among the galaxy of the bandmasters we could mention Vasile Albulescu, Ion Vlăduțoiu, Constantin Predescu, Radu Mihuț.
The activities of the Military Band are complex and varied: military ceremonies at the central level, in units and military schools .
It has participated in many contests and festivals, laureate of the international "Festival of the Fanfare Music", Braila 2000 .
